I had changed the statement "At least it is according to the present day residents of the town who 'claimed' Kirk after Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home stated that he was born in Iowa." In 1985 a motion was passed by the town's council that it proclaim itself the future home of Kirk's birthplace. Gene Roddenberry gave his blessing to the idea, and designated the town as Kirk's official birthplace.

Pictures?[]
I have been to the "annual festival" the Trek Fest many times in Riverside, and there are a few cool pictures I have of the USS Riverside and of the "birthstone" of James Kirk, I was also going to add some detail to the background info on the Trek Fest, I just wanted to get some contributors' input at the advice of a wise admin. ;) --Goldencub7 23:45, November 30, 2009 (UTC)
- That sounds like nice information to have here. It can always be tinkered with later if need be, if you want to add it. If you don't want to add it to the article yet, you could add it here for others to comment on.--31dot 23:52, November 30, 2009 (UTC)
The Making of Star Trek says what?[]
Where in "The Making of Star Trek" by Whitfield and Roddenberry does it state Kirk's birthday? Guys, I've read the book many times and don't remember that at all. I don't think it does but could be wrong, so please give me a page number where this fact is stated. Thanks. Sir Rhosis 22:13, December 18, 2009 (UTC)
The book makes no such claim, and it certainly doesn't say anything about March 22, 2228 as the article asserted. At the time TMoST was written in 1968, the show's timeframe was intentionally being left vague, so no specific year was given for anything. The March 22 date (Shatner's birthday) comes from the Okuda Chronology; I have no idea where the article's 2228 suggestion came from, since TMoST said that Kirk was 34, the age he'd given in "The Deadly Years," which is where we get the modern 2233 birthdate. I've edited the article to remove the error.--CLBennett (talk) 14:40, March 3, 2013 (UTC)
