Uniqueness[]

Just a jabber here, but I actually wrote this article because Sigma Draconis is unique, most systems we only know the number of planets because it is the highest mentioned. This is one of few systems in which there is no canon on the last planet we know of in the system. Not only is it a real system, but even the spectral type is canon. I feel Sigma Draconis is a real treat for Memory Alpha --TOSrules 07:21, Nov 13, 2004 (CET)

Why unexplored?[]

Wikipedia says that this system is only 18.8 ly from Earth (just 2.8 farther than Vulcan, though probably in a different direction). It seems very strange to me that the area would still be unexplored (except by probes) until the 2260s. I thought it might be in the Delphic Expanse, but the border of that phenomenon was 50 ly away. Risa is 90 ly away. Can anyone check Star Trek: Star Charts to see whether it sheds and apocryphal light on the matter? -- Connor Cabal 23:50, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Given that the Sigma Draconis system is only 18.8 light years from Earth, an explanation is due for it still being unexplored by the 2260s.

Removed the <above> comment which was posted as a background note, as it is not our place to speculate as to why the planet was not explored sooner. Space is big and there are any number of explanations. --31dot 00:57, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
