Similes[]

It looks like similes also ended up in this section. I vote for a different title for the page, only because the word "metaphor" can cause issues when taken literally; the "Comparisons" section is full of similes, under the general heading of metaphor. – The preceding unsigned comment was added by 207.55.56.115 19:36, July 2, 2013

Church mouse[]

Not that metaphor isn't bursting from the seams already (I mean Christ, take a scroll through the idioms section) , but there's no such distinct concept as a church mouse, it's part of an expression. The article even says as much. -- Capricorn (talk) 14:07, March 15, 2019 (UTC)

Oppose. Do some reconnaissance on splits and merges on this subject before starting a new discussion. --Alan (talk) 14:32, March 15, 2019 (UTC)

I thought I was pretty knowledgeable on the splits and merges on this subject, so you're going to have to bother to write out your reasons. -- Capricorn (talk) 14:57, March 15, 2019 (UTC)

Then apparently your knowledge on the whereabouts of this subject is at least 6 months out of date. The simple fact of the matter is already stated in your initial post. --Alan (talk) 15:04, March 15, 2019 (UTC)

Ok, then I'm going to have to be blunt. I don't know what you are alluding to, and being an administrator does not give you the right to substitute reasoning with riddles. -- Capricorn (talk) 15:20, March 15, 2019 (UTC)

All I know is that it's not supposed to be a species of mouse, just any mouse of any kind that happens to live in a church. --LauraCC (talk) 16:03, March 18, 2019 (UTC)
What riddles? Read the relevant talk pages. There are months old discussions all over on this topic. And as you said, I'm an administrator, not an talk page directory. --Alan (talk) 11:50, March 19, 2019 (UTC)

Going by the several hundred edits you logged between my comment and your reply (one hell of a clue to drop, I admit), I would have to conclude that the discussion you were referring to was Talk: Figure of speech#Split, a proposal which I did read (and give thought) when you posted it, but did not add to because I felt I had nothing to constructively contribute – though I was sympathetic to it and am now impressed by how well things worked out. I know that silence is consensus and all that, but since you didn't act on it for almost half a year, you'll have to forgive me for not presuming active policy had changed. -- Capricorn (talk) 16:38, March 20, 2019 (UTC)
