Memory Alpha
Memory Alpha

Hello.

I'm new here, and I wanted to add something to this page, but I don't know exactly how to go about it.

Basically, for either a birthday or christmas, I was given the Star trek encyclopedia (The original and updated one circa 1997) and a CD-ROM to go with it. However, the CD-ROM was actually made for Windows 95 and the person that got me this didn't realize until it was too late. I love old software, so it just makes it better, really.

Anyway, I tried to get the thing working on my PC ( It didn't :( ) and while I was doing that I saw that the installation guide linked to a website. I used WayBack, and I found an old forum for Star trek-esque stuff (It's like a baby Memory Alpha) that was moderated (I think) by this company.

From what I could tell, this company let you write fanfiction, and then they'd use it for their own books. It's kind of shady.

Either way, this seemed like an interesting thing to put on the wiki (I didn't see anything about this old site), but I think people need to look at it more.

I probably don't have the time to write an entire article on this, but I think people should research this weird thing if they didn't already.

I'm mostly putting this here to see if anyone has heard about this or experienced it or anything, and hopefully someone can research it more and add it here or make a new page.

It's just so weird and obscure, I love it. Here's the website :

http://www.simonsays.com/startrek/comm/

I don't know if this is the right place to put this (I read the talk page guideline and I think it is) but it seemed like something people would want to know or see.

P.S. make sure you put the website into the wayback machine. If this doesn't work, go to http://www.ssinteractive.com and click the link that mentions a star trek CD-ROM on the left. i know it looks broken, but wayback just doesn't load properly sometimes I guess.
