Real plant[]
I am pretty sure "snakeleaf" is this plant (and thus native to Earth): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ololiuqui-corymbosa-Frozen-Seed-Capsules/dp/B071JZNVY4 Apparently it is also known as "snake plant", quote from the following page: "In 1651 Hernandez physician to Philip II "Ololiuqui which some call Coaxihuitl or 'snake plant' is a twining herb with thin green cordate leaves, slender green terate stems, and long white flowers. Its seed is like like coriander whence the name [in Nahuatl - round thing] of the plant. It cures syphillis, relieves flatulence and removes tumors, ... banshes chills and helps in dislocations and fractures. ... Formerly when the priests wanted to communicate with their gods and to receive a message from them they ate this plant to nduce a delirium. A thousand visions and satanic hallucinations appeared to them."" https://www.dhushara.com/book/twelve/tw2.htm --88.202.95.17 17:13, February 6, 2020 (UTC)
- Those don't look anything like what was seen in the episode, and those are some pretty sketchy links to prove a point with. Maybe you should lay of the plant yourself a bit. -- Capricorn (talk) 16:08, February 7, 2020 (UTC)
They look exactly like the flowers we see in the episode, and what is "pretty sketchy" about the personal physician to Philip II? The Wikipedia article (look up Turbian corymmbosa) also states that it is known by this name, and several seed vendors list it as such as well. It seems to fit the bill, both with how it is used, the name and how it looks. --88.202.95.17 15:21, February 10, 2020 (UTC)
- It's not, see the background note in the article, Michael Chabon said it's an Orion plant known as horx. JagoAndLitefoot (talk) 16:57, February 10, 2020 (UTC)
