Definition[]
In this article, the definition "Speed was the rate of velocity" is not correct. Speed is the magnitude of velocity, as speed is a scalar quantity, and velocity is a vector quantity, a quantity that has both magnitude and direction.
On the other hand, rate of velocity (or more precisely, the rate of change of velocity with respect to time) is acceleration.
