Capitalisation of episode titles[]

Moved
🖖 Mr. Starfleet Command (talkcontribs) 00:22, 1 July 2025 (UTC)

Some time ago, a large number of TNG episode titles were changed to align with the capitalisation of the onscreen titles. For example, "Sins of the Father" was changed to "Sins of The Father".

Recently, I've noticed in the onscreen ENT titles, although all the letters use uppercase glyphs, some letters are larger than others. Because of their positions, I think they're intended to represent capitals. So I'm proposing that, like the TNG episodes, the titles be changed.

If it's decided that the titles will be changed, here's a list of the ones that need changing:

  • "A Night in Sickbay" to "A Night In Sickbay"
  • "In a Mirror, Darkly" to "In A Mirror, Darkly"
  • "In a Mirror, Darkly, Part II" to "In A Mirror, Darkly, Part II"
  • "These Are the Voyages..." to "These Are The Voyages..."

Hmmm, you may have something there. I just looked at the title cards and I see it, too.
Note - this may or may not also include some other things that use the episode titles as part of their tile, like books or podcasts. -LauraCC (talk) 15:13, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
Podcast and/or book titles are their own beasts... they very often don't align with our interpretation of the episode titles, but we keep them the way *they* present the title, rather than change them to match our capitalization. See ML: "The 37s" vs. VOY: "The 37's". -- Renegade54 (talk) 16:30, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
Ah, okay. "May not", then. Regarding the original post, do you concur? -LauraCC (talk) 16:33, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
Yep, those definitely seem to be using a "small caps" type font, so I agree. Keep in mind that not only the episode pages need to be changed, but so do all of the data files associated with the episodes. -- Renegade54 (talk) 17:45, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
Indeed. -LauraCC (talk) 17:47, 4 June 2024 (UTC)

Great. I have a question regarding links on other pages: is there a quick way of changing multiple links at once, or does each one have to be changed manually? - SheridanSinclair (talk) 11:14, 5 June 2024 (UTC)

The only way to automate it is with a bot run, unfortunately. -- Renegade54 (talk) 13:15, 5 June 2024 (UTC)

I see, thanks. In that case, a redirect will suffice until the links are changed. One more thing: I don't have the ability to edit the episode data files. I notice that you do, so would you mind making the necessary changes, please? - SheridanSinclair (talk) 17:21, 5 June 2024 (UTC)

Support renaming the pages. I've added rename tags to the episode pages in question, just to make sure everyone has a chance to see this. I'll come back next week and rename these, update the data files, and run my bot to update all the links. 🖖 Mr. Starfleet Command (talkcontribs) 20:52, 16 May 2025 (UTC)
I've completed the rename and will start up my bot momentarily. 🖖 Mr. Starfleet Command (talkcontribs) 00:22, 1 July 2025 (UTC)
...and everything's updated now. 🖖 Mr. Starfleet Command (talkcontribs) 08:40, 1 July 2025 (UTC)
