Featured article discussion (archived 6/21/05[]

  • Ten Forward. Why is it actually not featured yet? SmokeDetector created a perfect article here, with all information available on it, to my knowledge. Ottens 06:38, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)
    • Oppose provisionally, because I believe there are too many pictures on the page. Most of them show the same thing. IMHO, there should be one picture of the lounge, one of people playing chess, and one of Guinan. zsingaya 14:05, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)
      • Originally, there were two images of the lounge: one showing the bar and one showing the lounge/dining area. I uploaded the now top image, which gives a total view of the room. The image of the bar was chosen to be on Memory Alpha: Ten Forward -- there was never any objection to the number of images on the page. The total view doesn't give a splendid view of the lounge area, hence the necessity for the third image. The only insignificant image is the one showing crewmembers playing a game of chess; I added it to illustrate the social function of the lounge. Ottens 18:41, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Furniture[]

Can we get a mention who designed the great-looking furniture? Frans Clasener 5 Jul 2005

Who designed it? I thought Hermann Zimmerman, and I believe he's mentioned on the article. Ottens 16:23, 5 Jul 2005 (UTC)

For All Galaxy-Class Ships?[]

Do we have indication that all lounges like the Enterprise's Ten Forward are also called Ten Forward? In Shatner's book The Return another ship has a differently named lounge, which made me wonder. Of course the book is not canon, but it does raise an interesting question.--The Rev 21:42, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

Well, the name comes from the location. Shatner may not have realized that. --OuroborosCobra 21:45, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

Point of order[]

Is it official that ALL Galaxy-class lounges are referred to as "Ten Forward", or should it instead be assumed that "Ten Forward" is a nickname reserved specifically for the Enterprise-D's lounge? --Kitch 13:02, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

See the discussion right above this one. --OuroborosCobra talk 13:25, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

I am not so sure that Mess Hall is the comparison the article should be drawing. Ten Forward is much more reminiscent of an Officer's Lounge than a Mess Hall, especially since there are a few occasions when you see traditional Mess Halls. 216.249.220.102

Removed[]

The following was removed from the BG section by an anon:

"Ten Forward" is also the name of a coffee shop in Los Angeles.
