This may be related to the telephone sanitizers in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, who are sent away to crash on a distant planet.

Actually, no, because background information is not supposed to contain all forms of unrelated speculation. I doubt that the producers were even aware of that minor information from another franchise. -- Cid Highwind 14:38, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
