Registry[]
The registry of the Excalibur is considered to be apocryphal. See the Constitution class article for the full explanation.
If the registry number is apocryphal, should it be listed in the section header and the main body of the article? -- Renegade54 18:10, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
- This is a difficult one, but the Star Trek Encyclopedia is our only real backup on the matter.
- NCC-1664, with no name listed, was mentioned on a plainly readable chart in "Court Martial"
- USS Excalibur was seen, with no registry known, in "The Ultimate Computer"
- The note is probably because the two mentions were never established in canon to be the same vessel, but Greg Jein theorized they were and Michael Okuda published his results, and there is a trend towards treating the Encyclopedia as semi-canonical here on MA. If we disregard the Encyclopedia, then we'd have to remove the registry from USS Excalibur and create a separate article at "NCC-1664" for the possibly different ship. -- Captain M.K.B. 18:49, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
- According to our canon policy, the Encyclopedia is considered a valid resource for information regarding subjects seen on-screen. So, if the Encyclopedia says the registry was NCC-1664, then I guess we should label it as such. However, we should note that the registry comes from the Encyclopedia. --From Andoria with Love 19:21, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
- Doesn't matter anymore, it's canon now, and we can all rest in peace. --Alan del Beccio 01:59, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
Salvaged?[]
What is the source on the line: " It was never towed back to a Starbase"?

There is no source on that line. I've edited the article to reflect this.

Given that that's over a hundred years later, it's probably just a different ship with the same name. We've seen that before.--WarGrowlmon18 (talk) 04:44, 6 July 2024 (UTC)
- Or it's a ship pulled from the mothball fleet and brought back into service.– Memphis77 (talk) 05:01, 6 July 2024 (UTC)
- I.e. the USS Trial or even the refit connie from BOBW. Just cause she has a low registry doesn't make it unlikely. ‐ Yaroze86 (talk) 05:02, 6 July 2024 (UTC)
- Except given how badly wrecked it was that doesn't seem to be too likely. It's not just a decommissioned ship, it's a basically destroyed one.--WarGrowlmon18 (talk) 05:34, 6 July 2024 (UTC)
- In the remaster, I don't remember seeing the wreck. Sadly we simply don't know why or how it's back. Somehow Palpatine returned moment I guess... ‐ Yaroze86 (talk) 05:40, 6 July 2024 (UTC)
