Viceroy[]

I'm sure I heard Kes talking (as Tieran) to the other Ilari about someone's Viceroy, in the same way as Shinzon's Viceroy from Star Trek Nemesis. Can anyone else confirm this for me? zsingaya 19:24, 4 Jul 2005 (UTC)

It's been a while, but the term was First Castallen. -- Willie 18:35, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
It's been yet a while longer, but both titles are actually used in the episode. Kes/Tieran promises the title "First Castallen" to a loyal follower, while she suggests punishing a corrupt viceroy. GreatMagicalHat (talk) 15:26, July 30, 2012 (UTC)

Intentional[]

  • This episode deals with someone transferring their consciousness to others, much like the DS9 episode "The Passenger".

Similarity not shown to be intentional. — Morder (talk) 05:03, October 27, 2009 (UTC)

Does it matter whether the similarity is intentional? The two episodes are very similar and can both be summarized as "A main character's body is taken over by a villain that prolongs his life by moving from body to body." In fact, the only thing that keeps the first line from "The Passenger" from describing both episodes equally well is that it mentions the station. I was in fact coming to this page looking for this comment. I was watching the beginning of this episode when I got to thinking about the other episode. (I was something like "Ah yes, this episode. I loved Jennifer Lien's performance in that. But wait, didn't I watch a very similar episode relatively recently? It had the villain have his consciousness under the finger nails. But that would have to be DS9 or season 1 TNG for me to have seen it relatively recently. Yeah, that would be DS9. Or am I just remembering this episode more vividly than I thought? Wait, now I am not sure anymore. I'd better check Memory Alpha.". Yeah, that's how I think at times :P). The comment may need to be rewritten to make sure it doesn't just note some similarity in transferring consciousness and instead notes this striking resemblance between the episodes, but that shouldn't be a problem. Nevertheless, seeing that the comment was previously deleted made me decide to come over here and discuss rather than just edit myself. GreatMagicalHat (talk) 02:32, July 30, 2012 (UTC)

Kes & Neelix Breakup[]

The only known facts are that they broke while Tieran was in control of Kes and they were still broken up at the beginning of Darkling. They might not have gotten back together (or "canceled" the breakup because it wasn't Kes) after Warlord or broken up during or before Unity. Kes wasn't in that episode. Is there a less apocryphal source for the statements about the breakup made here, or is it mere conjecture? — JediRogue 07:27, June 26, 2010 (UTC)

Removed Note[]

  • I removed the following note from the bg info section, as I don't see the relevance of it:
Kes kills transporter chief Ensign Martin. --Defiant 17:39, August 6, 2010 (UTC)

Similar episodes[]

A somewhat similar premises of evil/malevolent aliens/powers possessing "good characters" are seen on episodes such as DS9: "The Passenger" when the alien criminal Rao Vantika takes over Doctor Bashir; Gary Mitchell and Elizabeth Denner ("Where No Man Has Gone Before"); Mr Spock ("That Which Survives"); Chekov ("Day of the Dove"); possessed children ("And the Children Shall Lead"); Mira Romaine ("The Lights of Zetar"); Benjamin Sisko and the staff of Deep Space 9 ("Dramatis Personae"); Jake Sisko ("The Reckoning"); Data, Troi, Miles O'Brien ("Power Play"); and Keiko O'Brien ("The Assignment"). An exception to this rule is where an evil alien possess an already "evil character" is Hengist ("Wolf in the Fold") and Dukat in ("What You Leave Behind").

This whole thing is one "writing trope" cite fest without citing if any of this was intentional, which is the actual bit needed here. I also cleaned this up for the most part. - Archduk3 17:09, July 28, 2020 (UTC)
