Tarot cards were cards used for fortune-telling.
Shaxs owned a set of tarot cards that depicted elements from Bajoran culture. Most of the cards, such as the "Invasion" card, symbolized "rebirth". In 2381, he offered Brad Boimler the choice between tarot cards or a Malcolm Reed jigsaw puzzle as "sacred security officer challenges". Enthused about neither, Boimler unintentionally chose both. Shaxs later revealed that he had in fact been trying to get Boimler to relax, having been warned by Sam Rutherford that he had been putting undue pressure on himself. (LD: "Empathological Fallacies")
Some of these cards were similar to cards in the Human Rider-Waite Tarot, with The Emissary being similar to The Magician, and the Orbs being similar to the 10 of Pentacles. (citation needed • edit)
