Task Force Games was an American gaming company that was co-founded by Stephen V. Cole and Allen Eldridge in Amarillo, Texas in 1979. One of the company's very first game releases concerned a Star Trek related one.

The company was also the publisher of the non-Star Trek Starfire series of games which were later novelized by David Weber into such books as In Death Ground, The Shiva Option and Insurrection. They also published historical games such as Battlewagon and History of the Second World War.

Star Trek releases[]

The company produced a number of Star Trek gaming products including Star Fleet Battles (1979) as one of the very first, if not the first, Star Trek starship gaming miniatures-centered role playing-like tabletop games, and Federation & Empire (1986) – a direct descendant from Star Fleet Battles – until going into bankruptcy in 1999. Both games incidentally, especially the Federation starship designs (the gaming miniatures of which, initially manufactured by GameScience), were heavily influenced by Franz Joseph's designs for his Star Fleet Technical Manual. The Star Fleet Battles series of games is currently published by Amarillo Design Bureau, headed by the game's originating designer Cole.
