Ted Knight (7 December 1923 – 26 August 1986; age 62) voiced the part of Carter Winston in the Star Trek: The Animated Series episode "The Survivor". He received no screen credit, however. Knight is best known for playing buffoonish newscaster Ted Baxter on the 1970-77 CBS series Mary Tyler Moore. He also starred in the 1980s series Too Close For Comfort. In 1966, he appeared in an episode of The F.B.I., entitled "The Assassin" alongside William Windom and James B. Sikking, which was directed by Ralph Senensky.
Born Tadeus Wladyslaw Konopka in Terryville, Connecticut, Knight passed away in 1986.
