Telemetry was a technological process which involves tracking objects, compiling data on them and sending that data to a remote source.
The telemetry of the NASA spaceship Charybdis failed sometime after its launch in July 2037. As a result, the vessel was believed to have been lost. It was found in 2365 that the ship had been swept out of the solar system by an alien force. (TNG: "The Royale")
In 2258 of the alternate reality, Spock was able to confirm Pavel Chekov's telemetry, which indicated a possible way to sneak up on Nero and the Narada by dropping out of warp behind Titan. (Star Trek)
In 2268, Captain James T. Kirk ordered Lieutenant Nyota Uhura to channel automatic telemetry of the shuttlecraft Galileo directly to the USS Enterprise computers as it approached the space amoeba. According to Spock's telemetry information, there were over 40 chromosomes in the nucleus ready to come together, ready to reproduce. (TOS: "The Immunity Syndrome")
According to Lieutenant Commander Data in 2366, Romulans routinely monitored the telemetry of Starfleet deep space probes. (TNG: "Tin Man")
