This template is used to link to the SF-Encyclopedia website entries for authors, movies, etc. An initial variable is required giving the end path to the article in question, and a second variable can be used to alter the linking text. The "end path" to the article is the portion of text in the URL following "entry/".

If no initial variable is given, the link will go to the main webpage, such as:


Which would produce:

For example, to link to Theodore Sturgeon's article, a page would have a template call such as:

If other link text is desired, such as "Ted Sturgeon", the following format should be used:

{{sf-encyc|sturgeon_theodore|Ted Sturgeon}}

A third parameter can be passed to change the path from the standard "entry" path used on for links to interviews or other such news articles:
