Tempo was the speed at which music was to be played or sung. The plural was tempi.

In 2367, Jenna D'Sora felt her tempo was "way off", as though she was rushing through the music she had been playing, but Data assured her that it was not. (TNG: "In Theory")

In 2369, Jean-Luc Picard asked the computer in his quarters to play back the Picard Mozart trio, Program 1, tracks one, two, and three, at tempo allegro. (TNG: "A Fistful of Datas")

In 2373, The Doctor told a hologram of Giuseppina Pentangeli that her tempo was way off, something the diva disputed, believing his to be too slow. The Doctor then explained that he had studied all the finest recordings of the opera O, soave fanciulla and that his tempo was accurate. Pentangeli dismissed them all, telling him in no uncertain terms that conductors took their tempi from her. The Doctor explained that she was to take it from him, as he had programmed the music for their duet. (VOY: "The Swarm")

In 2376, just prior to launching into That Old Black Magic, The Doctor asked the band accompanying him to pick up the tempo. (VOY: "Virtuoso")

In 2378, after being asked what she was feeling while playing music, Seven of Nine told a hologram of Chakotay that her tempo was erratic. He then corrected her, asking what she was feeling, not thinking. (VOY: "Human Error")
