The Terratins were the Human descendants of the late 21st century Earth colony established on the planet Terra 10, led by the Mendant during the 2260s.
Unbeknownst to the colonists, Terra 10 was bombarded with spiroid epsilon waves that shrank them to the size of 1/16th of an inch, due to the compacting of their DNA. This change became an irreversible genetic characteristic, causing all of their subsequent descendants to be the same size. According to the Mendant, encountered by the USS Enterprise, the Terratins "are people of pride," who "neither suffer insult, nor give apology for actions."
In 2269, the Terratins were transplanted from their home on the dying planet Terra 10 to a new home on Verdanis by the crew of the USS Enterprise. (TAS: "The Terratin Incident")

Apocrypha[]
According to the Spaceflight Chronology, the original colonists left to find a new home far from the jurisdiction of Earth and other assertive neighbors, in the hopes of creating a colony for themselves and their descendants that would have no interference from the outside. A consortium of like-minded people purchased ten interplanetary industrial spaceworks ships, powered by advanced nuclear fusion drives, enabling a cruising speed of half the speed of light. The ships were refitted into multi-generational Space Arks, designed to be completely self-sustaining for decades. The Space Ark Terra 10 left the solar system in the year 2070.
