Sinnit Arvid
Sinnit is a Tessma from the planet Tessmata IV.
As a member of a prominent Tessman family, Sinnit is expected to serve in his planet's defense forces from his twenty-second birthday on. Only Sinnit's rank and posting are still undetermined. They will be handed down in accordance with his academic performance - including his athletic accomplishments.
Sinnit's race seems to have a problem with Trill in general. The cause of this is an incident that took place when Sinnit was only 11 years old. At that time the relationship between the Tessma and the Trill was more promising.
Some Tessman ambassadors were out hiking in the Mak'ala wilderness when the ground gave way under them and they fell into a previously unknown subterranean cavern. The Tessma were unhurt, but they found their way into a network of underground pools that are to this day off-limits to non-Trills as it is home to the symbionts, of which the Trill are very protective.
The protectiveness of the Trill of a lifeform that looks like a worm made the Tessma call all Trill "Wikhov'na Pan'tisha". A slur that roughly translates as "vermin lovers".
And it's this incident, combined with Sinnit's failure at the semi-finals, that makes him attack the Trill judge, Emony Dax, with his Tessma honor blade. However, as he swings his blade down to hit Dax, another athlete - Kejjis Nar - jumps in front of him, taking the full brunt of the attack. Sinnit is then quickly overpowered by the Vulcan judge, and hauled away to the brig. Kejjis Nar survives with the help of Dax and Leonard McCoy, a student at the university of Ole Miss.
