The Star Trek Guide was an internal production document created for writers and directors of Star Trek, sometimes referred to as the "(Star Trek) Writer's Bible". Gene Roddenberry adapted the first edition of this document from his original 11 March 1964 "Star Trek is..." pitch document as the "Second Revision" after his pitch had been picked up by NBC in February 1966 as a television series and in which he incorporated all the changes between the first ("The Cage") and second pilot ("Where No Man Has Gone Before") episodes of the new series. Between the first and second seasons, D.C. Fontana updated and expanded the document into the 17 April 1967 "Third Revision", including new material about the characters.
It was the Third Revision that was widely disseminated to production staff and "Trekkies" (through Lincoln Enterprises) alike and which was the one to become ever known as "The Writer's Bible", among the latter in particular.
