The Star Trek Encyclopedia (2nd ed., p. 420) states that the Federation starship USS Roosevelt was named for Theodore Roosevelt. Roosevelt's name also inspired the teddy bear.

In the novel Articles of the Federation, Federation President Hiram Roth was an admirer of Roosevelt, and lived by the words of a Roosevelt quote: "Far and away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing."
