The Tiburon system, also known as the Omega Fornacis system, was an inhabited planetary system in the Beta Quadrant.
Components[]
Stellar components[]
This was a binary star system. The primary star Omega Fornacis A was a B-type dwarf. Its companion star Omega Fornacis B was an A-type dwarf.
Planetary system[]
In this system, there was the planet Tiburon, which was the Tiburonian homeworld.
Stellar cartography[]
The Tiburon system was visible from Earth in the constellation Fornax. It was approximately 466 light years from Sol.
In 2257, the system's location was labeled on the star chart showing the trajectory of Lieutenant Spock's shuttle. (DIS: "An Obol for Charon")
In 2293, the system's location was labeled in a star chart found on the navigation console of the USS Enterprise-B. (Star Trek Generations)
In the early 24th century, the Tiburon system was marked on a Section 31 map as controlled by the Klingon Empire. (Star Trek: Section 31)

Background information[]
This location was only mentioned in writing.
Information on this system was derived from the episodes and films, the reference works Star Trek: Star Charts and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library, and real-world sources. The reference works were used extensively in the creation of star charts seen in Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Star Trek: Prodigy, and Star Trek: Lower Decks. The real-world information added to the article was current as of 2025.
In the Star Trek: Star Charts (p. 64) and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Stellar Cartography" pp. 28 & 30; "Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385"), the primary was classified as a B-class star. The Tiburon system was identified as a Klingon system in a star chart created by Scribe K'Tark in the Year of Kahless 893 (2266) for the Klingon High Council. This claim was probably made for propaganda reasons, as Qo'noS claimed "many of the border worlds, such as Organia, that put it at odds with the Federation." In the late 24th century, it was an independent system.
Apocrypha[]
In the reference book The Worlds of the Federation, the planet Tiburon was the third planet orbiting Omega Fornacis A, and the Tiburonians refer to their world as Simeran.
