Tim Flattery (born 27 July 1963; age 61) is a Concept Designer who worked on early concept art of the USS Enterprise in May 2007 for Star Trek. [1] He worked together with Ryan Church on Star Trek Beyond as Concept Designer for the starships.
Flattery attended the College for Creative Studies in Detroit between 1982 and 1987 and graduated with a BFA in Design. Flattery has started his career in the entertainment industry in 1988 and worked on concept art for the vehicles in Back to the Future Part II (1989, starring Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson and Thomas F. Wilson), for the Batmobile and Batboat in Batman Returns (1992) and Batman Forever (1995), weapons design on Men in Black (1997) and Men in Black II (2002), the space station in Solaris (2002), Doc Ock's tentacles in Spider-Man 2 (2004, starring Kirsten Dunst and with Donna Murphy), and the Fantasticar in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007).
Among his earlier works as color animations on Captain N: The Game Master (1990), Swamp Thing (1991), and G.I. Joe (1991-1992), as well as concept design and illustration on My Stepmother Is an Alien (1988), Total Recall (1990), Child's Play 3 (1991), The Flintstones (1994), and The Client (1994).
Further work include The X-Files (1998), Saving Private Ryan (1998), Wild Wild West (1999), Mission to Mars (2000), A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001), Daredevil (2003), Serenity (2005), J.J. Abrams' Mission: Impossible III (2006), Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006), Transformers (2007), The Incredible Hulk (2008), Terminator Salvation (2009), G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009, with Rachel Nichols), Green Lantern (2011), Real Steel (2011), and Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011, with Simon Pegg).
Later work as Concept Designer include After Earth (2013), RoboCop (2014), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), and Tomorrowland (2015, written and produced by Damon Lindelof, produced by Jeffrey Chernov, music by Michael Giacchino, and production design by Scott Chambliss).
