Timothy Olyphant (born 20 May 1968; age 56) is an actor who was in talks for an unspecified role in Star Trek, but both he and director/producer J.J. Abrams decided against it. [1] He auditioned with the role of Leonard McCoy in mind, but Abrams told him they already had the doctor, but not James T. Kirk. He got the impression they wanted a younger actor. [2] However, despite not being cast, Olyphant was allowed to guest-conduct the orchestra for a brief time during the film's scoring session. [3] Deadwood (TV series) Olyphant is best known for his role as Sheriff Seth Bullock on Deadwood, opposite Jim Beaver, Keith Carradine, Brad Dourif, Pasha Lychnikoff, and Paula Malcomson. He had supporting roles in such films as Scream 2 (1997, with Jerry O'Connell), Go, Gone in 60 Seconds (2000), Dreamcatcher (2003), A Man Apart (2003, with Jeff Kober), and The Girl Next Door (2004). He later appeared in Catch and Release (2006), Live Free or Die Hard (2007, co-starring Tim Russ), Hitman (2007), and A Perfect Getaway (2009, with Chris Hemsworth). He also appeared as Wes Krulik on Damages (2009-10).

Between 2010 and 2015 he starred as Deputy US Marshal Raylan Givens on Justified. Olyphant's later film credits include This Is Where I Leave You (2014) and Snowden (2015, with Zachary Quinto).
