A traffic law was any law that was enforced by police in order to ensure traffic safety.
In an alternate version of the 2240s, a young Jim Kirk took a joyride in a Corvette, driving way too fast, which was a violation of traffic laws. When a policeman on a hoverbike attempted to pull him over, he refused, and instead attempted to evade him, and so the police officer was forced to pursue him until he crashed his car in a chasm.
