Archer and T'Pol use treadmills

Three treadmills on Enterprise

A treadmill, sometimes called a running machine, was a type of exercise equipment that allowed an individual to walk or run while remaining in a stationary position. They had a number of settings which increased the difficulty of the exercise given.

Enterprise NX-01 was equipped with at least three treadmills as part of its gymnasium. In 2152, Captain Jonathan Archer and Sub-Commander T'Pol utilized two of them while discussing an infection Porthos had acquired during a visit to the Kreetassan homeworld. Due to her Vulcan physiology, T'Pol was able to maintain a high setting while Archer struggled to keep up. (ENT: "A Night in Sickbay")

Two years later, Lieutenant Malcolm Reed used a treadmill while discussing the arrival of three Orion slave girls with Ensign Travis Mayweather, who was also present in the gym and exercising with weights. (ENT: "Bound")

The final draft script of TOS: "The Corbomite Maneuver" refers to a portion of James T. Kirk's physical taking place on a treadmill, rather than the exercise table and accompanying pedals seen in the episode. This is clearly not referring to the same device as seen in the episode, as Kirk is said to be dog-trotting on it and later standing upright when it is turned off by Leonard McCoy.
The Master systems display graphic made for the USS Enterprise-D incorporated a number of production in-jokes, one of which was a hamster on a treadmill which was alleged to be, "the true source of power for the ship's warp engines." (Star Trek Encyclopedia, 3rd ed., p. 291)
In the Pocket TOS novel The Rings of Time, the USS Lois and Clark is equipped with a treadmill so that the astronauts onboard could exercise their muscles due to the lack of gravity in space.
