A trunk was the wooden stem of a tree.
In 2151, the Novan Akary became trapped under a trunk on the ground of an underground well beneath the surface of Terra Nova. His leg was broken but he was rescued by Captain Archer and Jamin. Archer used his phase-pistol to cut the trunk into two pieces. (ENT: "Terra Nova")
In 2152, Ensign Hoshi Sato questioned whether Enterprise NX-01 had a chainsaw onboard. Captain Jonathan Archer later used one to chop up the trunk of an alvera tree as part of a Kreetassan apologetic ritual. (ENT: "A Night in Sickbay")
