Tygarian

A Tygarian male

The Tygarians are an Alpha Quadrant species. In 2370, they were one of the first to explore the Gamma Quadrant.

Li Nalas attempted to disguise himself as a crewmember of the Tygarian freighter Nanut. He was discovered by first officer Romah Doek, who promptly reported him to Benjamin Sisko. (DS9: "The Homecoming")

A Tygarian was seen in a bar on Dessica II while the senior staff of the Enterprise-D was searching for clues about the whereabouts of Captain Jean Luc Picard in that establishment. (TNG: "Gambit, Part I")

Beginning with the year 2370 Tygarians were also frequently seen on the Promenade of Space station Deep Space 9 and in Quark's Bar. (DS9: "Cardassians")

Later that year, Odo took the Teenage Jem'Hadar to a holosuite where he fought a holographic Tygarian, to help him channel his aggressive feelings. (DS9: "The Abandoned")

A Tygarian was one of the first customers of Quark's Bar to help out after all of Quark's possessions were confiscated by the FCA at the end of the year 2372 and carried in a new table for the bar. (DS9: "Body Parts")

This Tygarian looked a little bit different from earlier appearances of the species. Whereas Romah Doek had a normal shaped human mouth, this Tygarian seems to have a second mouth or a fold of skin on his chin. Tygarians with this modification can first be spotted at the end of DS9 season 2, maybe the make-Up was changed slightly, as Tygarians became background aliens, and their make-Up no longer required for them to talk.

Just like humans, Tygarians apparently are fond of Tribbles. When those animals were accidentally re-introduced to the 24th Century, a Tygarian was seen in Quark's Bar petting two Tribbles. (DS9: "Trials and Tribble-ations")
