The Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 2, p. 328) described this vessel as an Excelsior-class starship, with the registry NCC-38995.
The Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 1, p. 168) stated the starship was "named after Davey Crockett, American frontiersman and politician."
Apocrypha[]
The Star Fleet Technical Manual by Franz Joseph featured a listing of an earlier starship, the Hermes-class Crockett with the registry NCC-600. The ship was a MK-VII scout authorized for appropriation on stardate 0965.
