This ensign served as conn officer in 2364 until he was relieved by Geordi La Forge, when he proceeded to visit various aft stations on the bridge. When security chief Tasha Yar beamed down to the surface of Rubicun III as part of the away team, he served as her relief. In that position, he reported changes in the distance to the Edo God to the Captain, and later an intruder alert, when the Edo God began to investigate the Enterprise itself. (TNG: "Justice")
This officer, who was played by Josh Clark, was listed as "Conn"/"Conn Crewmember" in the script and "Conn" in the end credits of the episode, in spite of only briefly holding that position on the bridge.
Originally, this character was intended to become a recurring part. According to Josh Clark, the reason the character ultimately appeared only once was that the director "hated" him (the actor) [4]
Clark went on to portray another operations division officer, Lieutenant Joe Carey, on Star Trek: Voyager.
