The USS Excelsior (NCC-42037) was a Federation Excelsior II-class starship that was in service during the early 25th century. She was under the command of Captain Benbassat. (PIC: "Vox")
History[]
In 2401, Starfleet Cadet Elnor and Commander Raffaela Musiker were assigned to the Excelsior. Shortly after taking their positions, the Excelsior took the flank of the USS Stargazer during the encounter with the Singularity. (PIC: "The Star Gazer")
After arriving in an alternate timeline, Elnor and Musiker discussed how their last memory was being on the bridge of the Excelsior. (PIC: "Penance")
Following the return of Picard and his friends to 2401, Musiker ended up on the Stargazer while the resurrected Elnor remained on the Excelsior. As the fleet combined their shields with the Borg ship's to block a massive energy wave, the Excelsior's harmonics were off and the shield emitters had to quickly be recalibrated. Elnor responded to the hail, shocking his friends who had seen him die while in the alternate timeline. Musiker had Elnor adjust the Excelsior's shields and the combined Federation-Borg force successfully blocked the energy wave and saved countless lives. (PIC: "Farewell")
Targeted by the fleet
The Excelsior was later one of the ships assimilated by the Borg while it partook in Frontier Day celebrations, but the crew managed to retake control of the bridge. As the captain sent a distress call which was picked up by USS Titan-A, the automated systems took the Excelsior out of formation and into the firing line as the USS Cochrane, USS Hikaru Sulu, USS Intrepid, and USS Luna fired their torpedoes and destroyed the ship.
