The USS MacDuff (NCC-1877) was a Miranda-class starship that appeared in Ensign Beckett Mariner's holodeck exercise program, wherein she had to escape a Cardassian detention center.

Within the program, Mariner beamed herself and her Cardassian captor aboard the MacDuff, which was one of the many starships kept in the Cardassian facility from which she escaped. After destroying several nearby ships, the MacDuff blasted its way out of the facility, where it was promptly pursued by three Hideki-class ships. (LD: "Strange Energies")

Appendices[]

Background information[]

The ship's name, MacDuff, is also the name of the main antagonist from William Shakespeare's Macbeth, as well as the name of Kieran MacDuff, a fabricated identity assumed by a Satarran, who posed as a member of the USS Enterprise's crew as part of a plot to defeat the Lysian Alliance. (TNG: "Conundrum")

Apocrypha[]

The Star Trek Adventures - Lower Decks Campaign Guide lists the ship as a real Miranda-class vessel, originally launched in 2276. According to the book, the ship was in Cardassian space as part of an anti-piracy mission when the Dominion War was declared, which resulted in the ship being captured by Cardassian forces. The crew's escape from captivity was turned into a holodrama, which Mariner then used as a basis for her exercise program.
