The USS Maryland was a 24th century Federation starship operated by Starfleet.
The Maryland was one of the starships reported as missing in the Gamma Quadrant in the early 2370s; it was presumed by some to have been destroyed by the Dominion. (DS9: "In Purgatory's Shadow")
The Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 2, p. 332) listed this vessel as a Renaissance-class starship, with registry number NCC-45109. This ship , according to the Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 2, p. 473), was named for various 20th century ships of the US Navy named the USS Maryland.
