The USS Sacramento, nicknamed "the Sac", was a Federation California-class starship operated by Starfleet during the late 24th century.
In 2380, Commander Jack Ransom of the USS Cerritos was evaluating junior crew members for one to be promoted to the Sacramento. Ensign Brad Boimler applied, considering it to be a "huge career boost". Ensign Beckett Mariner also decided to apply, as she wanted to escape her unwanted fame as Captain Carol Freeman's daughter. Boimler later admitted to Mariner that he applied to such positions all the time and never expected anything to come of it. (LD: "No Small Parts")
In 2381, the Sacramento joined an armada of California-class to defend their sister ship, the Cerritos, from the USS Aledo. After successfully destroying the Aledo, the armada went to Douglas Station. (LD: "The Stars At Night")
The Sacramento is presumably named after the capital city of California.
Two years prior to its eventual appearance, Lower Decks showrunner Mike McMahan had stated previously identified this ship's class in an interview with the hosts of the YouTube channel Trekyards. [1]
