The USS Sioux (NCC-1621) was a Malachowski-class Federation starship operated by Starfleet during the mid-23rd century.

In 2256, it participated in the Battle of the Binary Stars. (DIS: "Battle at the Binary Stars")

Background information

This ship's name was spelled as "Sue" in the closed captioning of "Battle at the Binary Stars" on Netflix.

Ship designer John Eaves later noted on Facebook that this vessel was in fact named "Sioux", after the British singer Siouxsie Sioux. [1] This was apparent in his early concept CGI work, which depicted the ship with the name USS Siouxsie with the registry number NCC-2757. (Star Trek: The Art of John Eaves, p. 194)

The final product, the Sioux, was however said to be "named after a World War II US military division called the Sioux Code Talkers." (Star Trek: The Art of John Eaves, p. 194)

According to Star Trek: Shipyards - Starfleet Ships 2151-2293 (p. 188), the Sioux had the registry number NCC-1621.
