USS Sitak hit (2374)

The USS Sitak was a Miranda-class Federation starship in the 24th century.

The Sitak was an active participant in the Dominion War. In 2374, the Sitak was part of the fleet assembled by Captain Benjamin Sisko for Operation Return.

During the battle, the Sitak and the Majestic escorted the USS Defiant as the ships attempted to break through the Dominion lines. It was damaged after being hit in the port nacelle by a particle weapon before finally being destroyed after taking a direct hit from a torpedo to its' saucer section. (DS9: "Sacrifice of Angels")

Interestingly enough, Sisko consulted a Vulcan Admiral Sitak for the mission...

The scene from "Sacrifice of Angels" depicting the destruction of the Sitak was later reused in the battle sequence from "What You Leave Behind".

It is unknown, but likely, that the ship was lost with all hands. However, a retrieval of possible survivors could have been started after the retreat of the Dominion fleet.
