The USS Valdemar was a 24th century Federation starship operated by Starfleet.
In 2370 the Valdemar was dispatched to the border of the Cardassian Demilitarized Zone, following the arrest of Starfleet officer Miles O'Brien. The USS Enterprise-D and the USS Prokofiev were also ordered to patrol the border of the DMZ. (DS9: "Tribunal")
The Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 2, p. 335) classified this vessel as an Ambassador-class starship, with registry number NCC-26198. Furthermore, this reference work (4th ed., vol. 2, p. 448) stated that it was probably named for Valdemar Poulsen, the inventor of the first tape recorder.
