The USS Yamaguchi (NCC-26510) was a 24th century Federation Ambassador-class starship operated by Starfleet.
In 2366, the Yamaguchi participated in the battle against the Borg at Wolf 359 in the fleet of forty Federation starships. She engaged the attacking Borg cube, alongside the USS Bellerophon, while the cube had the USS Saratoga in a tractor beam. (DS9: "Emissary")

Background information[]
Yamaguchi is the name of a prefecture in Japan as well as a common Japanese surname; Tamon Yamaguchi was an admiral in the Japanese Navy during World War II.
The Yamaguchi was the final appearance of the physical Ambassador class model. At the time of its retirement, the studio model bore the markings of both the USS Excalibur and Yamaguchi, though the latter on the saucer dorsal were obviously the more prominent ones. [1](X)
Contrary to its equally fleetingly seen companion USS Bellepheron in "The Emmisary", the Okuda-author couple opted for unclear reasons to exclude USS Yamaguchi in any edition of their Star Trek Encyclopedia, be it in the Starfleet overall ship listing or in a separate article, as one of the very few Starfleet vessels not receiving either one. It serves as a rationale why there has never been an official production etymology for the ship's name.
Apocrypha[]
In Spaceships at the Final Frontier, author Rick Jackson comments that the Yamaguchi was the vessel that brought Commander Sisko and Jake Sisko to Deep Space 9 - thereby implying it had been the sole survivor of the Battle of Wolf 359. (Spaceships at the Final Frontier, p. 44)
