The USS Yelchin (NCC-4774-E) was a Federation starship operated by Starfleet in the 31st century.

History[]

Circa 3069, the Yelchin was destroyed in an event that would later be known as "The Burn". Last reported position of the starship was at coordinates 81986 mark 272139. (DIS: "People of Earth", "Unification III")

Legacy[]

In 3188, the Yelchin's black box was acquired by Michael Burnham from an alien at a mercantile exchange. (DIS: "People of Earth")

In 3189, information on the Yelchin was included with other notes of evidence about "The Burn" on a holographic note board in Michael Burnham's quarters aboard the USS Discovery. This evidence indicated the event was not simultaneous, as the destruction of the Yelchin occurred one one-millionths of a millisecond after the destruction of many other ships. (DIS: "Forget Me Not", "Scavengers", "Unification III")

The Yelchin's blackbox, engraved with only the registry of NCC-4774-(...), was first seen and described in "People of Earth." The name of the ship to which the black box belonged was mentioned in dialogue in "Unification III." The design of the prop was explained by Mario Moreira in TRR: "There Is A Tide...".
This ship appears to have been named after Anton Yelchin, who played Pavel Chekov in Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness, and Star Trek Beyond.
According to the novel Wonderlands, the senior officers of the Yelchin were Captain Namid Hacquin, executive officer Iryi Roala, chief medical officer Reiko Kamada and chief science officer Grace Kavanagh.
