The Uniform code of conduct was a code of conduct observed by members of Starfleet on board ships and other facilities. Included in the code were non-violent methods of dispute resolution that members of Starfleet were expected to employ in the event of any conflicts.
Following a fight between Ash Tyler and a resurrected Hugh Culber in 2257, Captain Christopher Pike made it clear to Commander Saru that any future conflicts on USS Discovery were to be handled according to the uniform code of conduct. (DIS: "If Memory Serves")
