The Vellorian Mountains were a mountain range on the planet Barkon IV.

In 2370, a Federation deep space probe crash landed there. Lieutenant Commander Data was sent to recover components of the probe, before they contaminate the planet's biosphere. However, during the recovery process, he was damaged by an explosion. He then traveled over a hundred kilometers (or two hundred seltons in local measurement) to the nearest inhabited village. There some people believed he was an "ice-man" living in the Vellorian Mountains. It was a "well known fact" that ferocious creatures lived in the Vellorian Mountains, despite the fact that nobody had apparently ever seen said creatures. (TNG: "Thine Own Self")
