The Venatic-class was a type of hunting starship used by the Hirogen during 2370s.
Although these ships appeared to be quite large (some 1,000 meters, compared to the USS Voyager at ~300 meters), they were manned by only fifteen or twenty hunters. The design also had a major flaw in its sensor system: its engines created a "blind spot" in the ships' aft end, where smaller ships could hide and avoid sensor detection by the hunters. The USS Voyager exploited this weakness to secretly follow two Venatic-class ships in 2377. These vessels pursued a third ship crewed by Hirogen prey holograms into a nebula and were later disabled by Voyager. (VOY: "Flesh and Blood")
