Vincenzo Natali (born 6 January 1969; age 55) is a film and television writer and director who Bryan Fuller confirmed was a "producing director" of Star Trek: Discovery, [1] but left after what he described as his "short voyage" with the show. [2]
His role included producing designs for Klingon and Starfleet environmental suits, and he never received any on-screen credit for any his work on the series. [3]
He is perhaps best known for his feature films Cube (1997, starring Nicole de Boer and Nicky Guadagni), Cypher, Nothing, and Splice (2009). He has also directed episodes of TV series such as Gene Roddenberry's Earth: Final Conflict (starring Majel Barrett-Roddenberry), Orphan Black (starring James Frain) and Hannibal.
In addition to this, he began his career as storyboard artist working on cartoon series including Beetlejuice, Fievel's American Tales, and also the feature film Ginger Snaps.
