Prehensile vines grabbing Janeway
A vine was a trailing portion of a plant that extended out from its main body.
Some vines were prehensile, meaning that they could grasp onto objects. In 2237, a young Spock was attacked by prehensile sucker vines while running through Vulcan's Forge. (TAS: "Yesteryear")
While battling James T. Kirk in 2267, the Gorn captain considered a vine as a possible weapon. (TOS: "Arena")
