A Vulcan phaser was a type of hand phaser utilized by Vulcans during the 24th century.
In 2380, two Vulcans were each in possession of a weapon of this type when they were nerve-pinched by Ensign Sam Rutherford during a covert mission that involved stealing a long range shuttle. (LD: "Veritas")
This weapon was originally designed as a Vulcan phaser for an episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, though the scene ended up being cut. (The Art of Star Trek, p. 126) The original prop, described as a "Vulcan energy pistol", was sold, broken, as part of the It's A Wrap! sale and auction.[1]
A second prop, appearing in silver, was used as Quark's phaser in "The Magnificent Ferengi" and "The Siege of AR-558", as well as Julian Bashir's rebel weapon in the mirror universe episode "The Emperor's New Cloak".
