The Wadi were a humanoid species from the Gamma Quadrant initially discovered by a Vulcan ship in 2369. They became the first official species to visit the Alpha Quadrant that the Federation made first contact with.
They had an unusual preoccupation with games and gambling, including the game Chula. Alpha-currant nectar was a priceless beverage among Wadi society. (DS9: "Move Along Home")

Background information
According to the Star Trek: Star Charts, on page 74, the Wadi were from the Wadi system. The primary for this system was a class A star. It had a magnitude of +7, which was 1/10 as bright as Sol.

The Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - Core Game Book identifies "Tomerela IV" as the Wadi homeworld. According to the Star Trek Adventures - Gamma Quadrant sourcebook, the Wadi homeworld was called Oason.
Taking place in 2409, the computer game Star Trek Online features Wadi duty officers being available for the Federation and Klingon Defense Force factions. The Wadi officers in Star Trek Online have a status quote: "Hey, I know this great game. Want to play?".
