Walter Bacon (13 May 18917 November 1973; age 82) was an actor who appeared as a street onlooker in the Star Trek: The Original Series first season episode "The City on the Edge of Forever". He filmed his scene on Friday 3 February 1967 on location at the "40 Acres" backlot. He received no credit for this appearance. Bacon was the oldest American born male actor, and fourth oldest performer overall, to be hired for his role in Star Trek.

Between 1921 and 1967, Bacon appeared in over two hundred film and television productions, usually in uncredited bit and background roles. His feature film credits include The Great Dictator (1940), Orson Welles' Citizen Kane (1941, with Tom Steele, edited by Robert Wise), Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942, with Al Cavens, Charles Drake), Robert Wise's The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951, with Larry Dobkin and Reginald Lal Singh), The Robe (1953, with Jean Simmons, Jay Robinson, Torin Thatcher, Michael Ansara, Al Cavens, Dick Cherney, Roy Jenson, Arthur Tovey, and Eleanore Vogel), 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954), The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956, with Reggie Nalder and Arthur Tovey), The Brothers Karamazov (1958, with William Shatner, David Opatoshu, and Harry Townes), To Kill a Mockingbird (1962, with Brock Peters, Frank Overton, Paul Fix, William Windom, John Megna, Richard Hale, Noble Chissell, and Max Wagner), The Music Man (1962, with Noble Chissell), Mary Poppins (1964, with Jane Crowley and William Meader), and My Fair Lady (1964, with Arthur Tovey).

He was the father of art director Archie J. Bacon and actor Rod Bacon.
