Background information[]
- The story for this issue (and issue #1) is an adaptation of the Star Trek: The Original Series episode "Where No Man Has Gone Before". The issue has no title, but Star Trek, Volume 1 gives it the title "Where No Man Has Gone Before".
- The events of this issue contradict Kirk's later statement in Star Trek Into Darkness that he did not lose any crew members during his first year as captain of the Enterprise.
