The wingspan was a measurement from the tip of one wing of a bird or aircraft to the other.

While recording her personal log in 2374, Seven of Nine described a bird she saw in a hallucination as having a wingspan of one half meter. (VOY: "The Raven")

Later that year, Kathryn Janeway suggested to a holographic Leonardo da Vinci that he might have gotten the wingspan wrong when constructing his flying machine (VOY: "Concerning Flight")
