The Xanthan homeworld was an inhabited planet located inside the Delphic Expanse. It was home to a gigantic floating trading bazaar where shopkeepers such as B'Rat Ud and Zjod made their homes. One of the planet's native animals was the Xanthan marmot. The Xanthan homeworld was about two days travel from Oran'taku with a warp 5 engine.

In September of 2153, Enterprise NX-01 visited the Xanthan homeworld to do business with B'Rat Ud. While there, Captain Jonathan Archer helped one of Zjod's slaves, Rajiin, to escape. Rajiin had actually been planted in Zjod's shop by the Xindi a few days earlier. (ENT: "Rajiin")

Background information Edit

This planet was not named on screen; its name here derives from the fact that Xanthan marmots came from the planet.

From orbit, no significant land masses were seen. In the final draft script of "Rajiin", the Xanthan homeworld was described thus; "Its surface is entirely covered with an unbroken purple ocean, no land masses at all. Dramatic bands of purple clouds streak the atmosphere."

Brannon Braga once referred to the Xanthan homeworld as "a cool planet". (Star Trek: Communicator issue 151, p. 28)

In the Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 2, p. 496), where the planet is the given the moniker "Xanthan planet", it is described as a M-class ocean world.
